Advantage CCS is Participating in the ‘Making $ense of Finance’ Conference

Advantage Credit Counseling Service is proud and honored to be participating in the financial education conference called ‘Making $ense of Finance’ to assist veterans, active duty military, and their families. This conference is taking place on Saturday, March 1st, 2014 at PNC Park; from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Click here for driving directions.

In a recent Press Release, Secretary of Banking and Securities, Glenn E. Moyer and Major General Wesley E. Craig, adjutant general of Pennsylvania, announced the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance’s “Making $ense of Finance” conference. Advantage CCS is thrilled to be a part of this special conference!

You will learn about:

  • Investment and Retirement Basics
  • Understanding Credit Reports and Credit Scores
  • Personal Risk Management and Insurance
  • Budgeting: Build Wealth, Not Debt
  • Protecting Your Identity

Breakfast, lunch, and free parking are all included. The first 200 people to register for this free conference will receive a $25 gift card for attending the conference. Proof of military service in the form of discharge papers and/or military ID is required. Space is limited and registration is required. Please call 717-705-2687 or visit online at www.dobs.state.pa.us to register.

The conference will be geared specifically towards the financial and investing challenges faced by members of the military and veterans. Those in attendance can choose workshops led by experts in the morning and afternoon sessions. The conference will provide service members, veterans, and their families with the knowledge and skills that are needed to cultivate and protect their finances.

Allegheny County has one of the highest veteran populations in all of Pennsylvania. PA ranks third in the nation for the number of personnel serving in the military, as well as the number of deployed National Guard troops. So Pittsburgh is the perfect place to hold such a conference. Also, active duty military personnel have to keep up with their finances and have good credit to maintain their security clearances.

Our very own Heather Murray and Noelle Irving will be presenting about ‘Understanding Credit Reports and Credit Scores’ and ‘Budgeting: Build Wealth, Not Debt’ in the morning and afternoon sessions. Be sure to register and check them out! You’ll gain some interesting and very useful information!

The “Making $ense of Finance” conference is made possible through the Pennsylvania Military Finance Alliance, a cooperative effort of the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, the PA Department of Banking and Securities, the PA Office of Attorney General, The Heinz Endowments, Army OneSource, the Better Business Bureau of Western Pennsylvania, Liberty USO, and Advantage Credit Counseling Service.
