Amazing Tips For A Frugal Fourth Of July

Blog Home

The 4th of July is coming! It’s the perfect time to get together with friends and family. The weather is usually great and it’s the beginning of the Summer festivities. You don’t have to spend a lot of money on the perfect Fourth of July party though. You just have to get creative when it comes to enjoying the day off.

1. Host a Potluck –

One great way to celebrate the 4th is to have your own potluck dinner. While this day is a great time to celebrate with family and friends, it can get expensive when you’re buying food, decorations, and drinks. If you’re hosting, then you’ll want to stick to your budget by having a potluck. Ask each of your guests to bring something to share at the party. It can be an appetizer, side dish, dessert, or even a main course. You don’t want all of them to bring the same salad or plate of cookies, so it’s a good idea to know who’s bringing what ahead of time.

2. BBQ at Home –

If you love eating grilled food, then you can celebrate Independence Day by grilling out in your own backyard. From grilled hot dogs to hamburgers and zucchini and corn on the cob, there are plenty of delicious foods that can be grilled. Plus, most of these foods are affordably priced at grocery stores and big box stores. You can also use the grill to make a large batch of food by placing a stoneware, cast iron skillet, or something like that right on the grill. It’s best to use your own grill when cooking for a big crowd to celebrate your financial independence instead of going out to eat.

3. DIY Decorations –

There are so many patriotic decorations that you can make for cheap or for FREE. This is also a great way to get your kids involved. Common decorations include a clothespin wreath made with red, white, and blue, fabrics. You can also make patriotic hats out of construction paper or a red, white, and blue banner. If you need some inspiration, Pinterest has plenty of DIY Fourth of July decoration ideas.

4. Watch the Fireworks –

Fireworks are what comes to people’s minds when you think of the Fourth of July, but those can get expensive. You don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on your own light show. But you don’t want to miss out on the beauty of watching fireworks. Not to mention, lighting fireworks can be a very dangerous endeavor. On average, 280 people go to the emergency room every day with fireworks-related injuries around the July 4th holiday.

Instead of buying your own, you can search for a nearby community that’s having a free fireworks show. Go to your local beach or rooftop bar to watch them light up the sky. But if you and your kids want to have some fun with your own fireworks, then opt for cheaper and safer options such as Sparklers, Snakes, Glow Worms, Pistol Poppers, and Bang Snaps.

5. Go Camping –

Another great way to celebrate the 4th is to go camping. What better way to celebrate America’s birthday than to visit a national park? Most of them require a reservation for snagging one of their camping spots, so book ahead of time. Most of these parks fill up quickly, so check their online booking system before you hit the road. If you can’t snag a spot, then camping at home is another option.

Have your own camping experience under the stars in your backyard. If you have kids that will LOVE it! There’s no need to go into the woods to create a camping experience. Set up tents, fairy lights, throw pillows, blankets, and pack some yummy treats. You could even play games, make s’mores, or watch a movie in your own backyard. If you’re lucky, you may be able to watch the fireworks.

Conclusion –

Your holiday success doesn’t have to be measured by how much money you spent. You can still have an awesome time without breaking your budget. You just have to look for deals, think creatively, and spending frugally. It’s totally possible to have a BOOMING 4th of July on a tight budget!
