Review Session – What to Expect:
A Certified Credit Counselor will go over the basics of the credit report review session with you in the beginning so that you can gain insight on what you are going to learn during the session. This session is completely confidential and always performed by a certified credit counselor.
The counselor will provide you with a complete overview and understanding of what’s on your credit report and may offer you some suggestions that could potentially help increase your credit score. (Note: AdvantageCCS does not do credit repairs or maintenance) The purpose of this Credit Report Review session is to ensure that you have a better understanding of your credit report and to try to give you some guidance and feedback on possible ways to improve your creditworthiness. However, there is no guarantee that we will be able to provide advice on how to increase your credit score, this will be determined on a case by case basis.
We only pull a credit report from Experian and do not pull from any of the other credit reporting bureaus. If you would like to review your credit report from the other major credit reporting bureaus, you must provide us with copies before the session. We recommend that you pull the other copies of your credit report from www.annualcreditreport.com and either email or fax them to us.
After completing this credit report review session, you will have a full understanding of how to interpret what is on your credit report, what your FICO credit score is used for, the importance of using credit wisely, and also how to keep your credit up-to-date and correct. All of this information will help you keep a better handle on your personal finances and help you fix any errors on your credit report (sample dispute letter for creditors provided). Checking your credit report regularly is a crucial step in protecting yourself from identity theft, fraud or inaccurate reporting; which happens more often than you might think.
