PITTSBURGH, PA —Advantage Credit Counseling Service, Inc. has been approved by the Executive Office for U. S. Trustees to provide pre-filing bankruptcy counseling in New York, Ohio and West Virginia to those consumers who intend to file bankruptcy under the bankruptcy law that went into effect October 17, 2005. A key provision under the law stipulates that consumers must receive mandatory credit counseling within 180 days prior to filing bankruptcy.
“We are pleased to have been selected to provide the necessary counseling to those who intend to file bankruptcy,” said CCCS President and CEO Stephen Piotrowski. “It is a testament to the hard work and quality service that our agency employees provide to those in need” Piotrowski said.
Agencies interested in providing pre-filing bankruptcy counseling had to apply to the Executive Office for U.S. Trustees for approval. According to the National Foundation for Credit Counseling, “the criteria set forth by the Executive Office reflects a very strong commitment…to ensure that the counseling and education provisions are substantive in nature and of the highest quality.”
