Credit Bureas

Almost all creditors routinely report their account information to credit reporting agencies.  For each account you have, the credit report will show your limit or existing balance, monthly payment and payment pattern during the past several years, and if you have made your payments as agreed.  Public record information (such as liens, judgments, and bankruptcies) will also be listed on your credit report.  The names of those who have reviewed your credit report will be listed on your credit report as inquiries.

As a consumer, it is very important to check your credit report every year to make sure there are no errors.  You also want to make sure there are no fraudulent accounts showing on your credit report.   This will be a sign that you may be a victim of identity theft. You can obtain your credit report by calling the three major credit bureaus Equifax (800-685-1111), Experian (888-397-3742), Trans Union (800-916-8800).
